Color in the Desert

My first exhibition in my new home was held at the Artists Council in Palm Desert, California. The title summed up the theme: Color! My choice was to take a desert scene I painted in Joshua Tree National Park one spring day. Desert scenes usually feature subdued yellows and browns with sparse green foliage and dark blue shadows. Color is often introduced by spring flowers, but I chose to express the exhibition’s theme with a group of brightly dressed visitors walking through the scene. The resulting “Exploring Joshua Tree” can be seen here.
