When asked if I would consider entering one of my paintings in a silent charity auction at the Glitz & Glam party in Palm Springs, how could I say no? The party and auction were to benefit the Palm Springs AIDS Memorial and Let’s Kick ASS Palm Springs, a public charity dedicated to supporting HIV/AIDS survivors and fighting AIDS Survivor Syndrome (ASS). I chose my watercolor “The Pool Party,” an image of a group of people splashing around in a swimming pool in Palm Springs that sends a positive message of socializing and enjoying life in a convivial environment.
The party was great fun with many people dressed in costumes ranging from the elegant to the elaborately outrageous. I chose a white suit with a Panama hat, looking like Jay Gatsby enjoying a summer fete by the pool.
